Cultivating the body's intelligence to reinvigorate your inherent alignment
Katie completed her RYT200 yoga teacher training with Yama Yoga Studios in Doha, Qatar in June of 2015. Her teacher training was a nine month mentorship in Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga with a focus on the exploration of the anatomy of yoga. During her teacher training, she had the opportunity to work with Tiffany Cruikshanks, Alison West, Noha McKenna, and Nicky Knoff. All of whom have various backgrounds in yoga, but through their professional careers all explore yoga as an extremely beneficial practice adjacent to modern western medicine. After working with these teachers Katie felt incredibly inspired to pursue a career in health and wellness.
Katie obtained her Licensed as a Massage Therapist in the state of Texas in 2016. She has taken several courses in Chinese Medicine with an emphasis on women’s health. She completed her certification in Sports Massage with Path to Healing’s Texas Massage Education in 2019. Katie is heavily influenced by Eastern traditions in healing. She looks at the internal and external influences of the body as a whole, and enjoys gathering this information to answer the hows and whys to better understand the body’s functions. She sees her work as a therapist and practitioner of massage and yoga as a lifetime meditation, and an opportunity to continuously learn through clients and herself. Katie uses massage and yoga to help move away from the reactions that are emphasized in the mind, to discover and pinpoint the origin of suffering.
Yoga is a first person, internal observation, that creates a flow between the movement of the body and breath creating a rhythm that promotes optimal function of the mind and body. It allows you to expand your awareness so you can listen and react in a matter that is productive. Massage therapy is a third person, external observation, allowing for the expansion of the clients awareness from the mental to the physical and vice versa through the manipulation of soft tissue, to facilitate the process of healing through alignment. Through the use of these practices Katie works to accommodate the healing of both mental and physical pain, and provide the education needed for her clients to manage their wellbeing by consciously maintaining equilibrium as the body naturally changes with age, as well as adjusts to external influences.
